Web Desk: Seven more infants died in drought-hit Thar in last two days, bringing the death toll to 38 for the year 2019.

According to Mithi hospital sources, seven children breathed their last on Saturday, who were brought to the medical facility from Thar over last two days.

“Outbreak of water-borne diseases, malnutrition and other health complications were behind the recent wave of mortalities,” said Mithi Civil Hospital doctors.

Earlier in January, Pakistan Army established a three-day free medical camp to facilitate the people of Tharparkar, wherein army doctors and paramedics provided essential medical treatment to over 1700 patients at the medical camp.

Every year 1,500 children die due to malnutrition, infections and lack of proper medical facilities in the remote region.
