LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader and Punjab Minister for Local Government has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from its Lahore court premises where he had appeared in cases related to possessing assets beyond his known sources of income, foreign property and an offshore company scandal here on Wednesday.
Aleem has been under investigation in an ongoing inquiry by NAB in cases pertaining to offshore company scandal and owing assets beyond his known sources of income.
According to NAB sources, Aleem has been taken into custody in connection with an offshore company revealed in Panama Papers leak.
The Punjab minister for local government had already made several appearences earlier before the NAB court in the cases.
Earlier, it was revealed that the PTI minister owns assets worth more than Rs900 million, according to the nomination papers he submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Media reports claimed that after being taken into custody the PTI minister had sent his resignation as a provincial minister to Punjab CM Usman Buzdar.
