KARACHI: Vice Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Lyari Akhtar Baloch, still working in the office amid ongoing inquiries in corruption allegations and despite being the end of his tenure, sources revealed on Friday.

According to sources, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated an inquiry against VC SBBU Lyari on 23rd November 2018, in a case pertaining to possessing assets beyond the known source of income and abusing his powers which still underway.

The powerful vice chancellor is yet to be replaced by the Sindh government amid inquiries in NAB and despite being his 4 years tenure has been ended on January 14 earlier this year.

Secretary Universities and Boards Riaz Uddin while talking to media said, “The question is who will replace Mr. Akhtar Baloch.”

“A search is underway to find a new Vice Chancellor and he will be replaced when we will find any suitable replacement,” added Riaz.

It is pertinent to mention here that several universities in Sindh still at risk under acting vice-chancellors including SBBU Nawabshah, QUEST Nawabshah and PUMHS Nawabshah.
