HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Cable Operators Association on Wednesday has shut down their services across the city in protest against the illegitimate attitude of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) with Hyderabad cable operators.

According to details, PEMRA has suspended the services at 7.00 PM across the city over the raid conducted by PEMRA officials at Hyderabad Cable operators association office.

Addressing a press conference here president Hyderabad cable operations said that PEMRA during his raid has also confiscated office equipments which is immoral attitude and non-acceptable.

He demands Prime minister Imran Khan to take action on the unethical behavior of PEMRA.

We never wanted to go for that [strike] but no other option was left by the PEMRA to make our voice public, he added.

“PEMRA has given license to cyber net which is illegal.”

He further said that there are more than 5000 cable operators in Hyderabad, adding that PEMRA’s decision to license cyber net will cut down jobs of 5000 cable operators.
