ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court on Monday extended the physical remand of the former President Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur during the hearing of a case pertaining to Fake Bank Accounts and Park Lane Company Scam till August 8.
According to details, both PPP leaders were produced before the court as the previously granted remand was ended where the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pleaded to extend the remand of the former president Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur.
As the hearing went underway, PPP co-chairman and the former President Asif Ali Zardari in his arguments said that the Eid Holidays are approaching so the court should place the case for hearing after the Eid.
To which, the court in its remarks said that it cannot wait for that much longer as we cannot extend the remand for more than 15 days.
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir in his remarks questioned that should we put an end to the remand. At which, Faryal Talpur simultaneously responded that she has no issues with that.
Counsel for both PPP leaders, Farooq H. Naek pleaded the court that the hearing of both of his clients should be placed on the same date which was accepted by the court. The court by accepting Naek’s plea extended the remand of both PPP leaders by another 10 and adjourned the case till August 8.
