ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court on Thursday extended the physical remand of the former premier and senior leader Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi till August 29 in an ongoing probe pertaining to the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case.

Accountability Courts Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted the hearing in a case pertaining to the LNG scam today. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced the former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi before the court and pleaded for an extension in the physical remand of the accused.

The court by accepting NABs plea extended the remand of the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi till August 29.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was arrested by the anti-graft watchdog last month near Thokar Niaz Baig Toll Plaza in connection to an ongoing probe in LNG contract scam.

The NAB has accused the former premier of corrupt practices in awarding LNG terminal contract.
