LONDON: The British government on Sunday refuted the allegations of alleged embezzlement in flood relief fund by the then Chief Minister Punjab of a London-based newspaper Daily Mail.

Daily Mail in a report leveled allegations against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif that he made irregularities in the finances of flood relief fund sanctioned by the British government back in 2005.

The British government has refuted all the allegations and told that the sanctioned amount was spent in the right manner and the claims of Daily Mail are a set of lies.

Department For International Development (DFID) of the British government by denying the allegations has said that those funds were spent on reconstruction of schools and hospitals and the entire process was followed by a detailed audit.
