ISLAMABAD: The body of a minor girl identified as Farishta was found from the federal capitals Shahzad Town area on Tuesday.

According to police, the victim was 10-year-old and was killed after being allegedly raped. Her body was recovered from a nearby forest.

The victims family which belongs to tribal district of Mohmand Agency said they had reported her missing to the police on May 15 after she had left the house to buy Iftar items from the market.

The family claims that the police took almost 4 days to register a case and a proper search was not launched even after the registration of an FIR.

However, the body was discovered by the locals of the area who then reported it to the police.

The police upon the discovery of the body shifted it to a nearby hospital for postmortem. The bereaved family also protested over the alleged negligence of the case and demanded justice by staging a protest at Taramari Chowk and demanded to suspend the SHO Shehzad town and other staffers.

On the other hand, DIG Operations Waqaruddin Syed suspended the SHO Shehzad Town and has ordered SP Rawal Umar Khan to present a detailed report into the matter as soon as possible.

The Media reports are suggesting that a judicial commission has also been formed to probe the matter on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.

An official notification has also been issued in this regard.
