Islamabad: Defence analyst and former member Capital Development Authority (CDA) Brig (R) Asad Munir committed a suicide, police said on Friday.

Sources said that Asad Munir’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his apartment in Islamabad’s diplomatic enclave. He was also the former director of intelligence agency, Peshawar.

Munir was upset by media reports that ran a day earlier stating that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) during its executive board meeting had granted approval for the filing of a reference against him, family sources said.

NAB had accused Munir of misusing his authority and restoring a plot in F-11 area of the federal capital.
