ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday approved to hear a petition seeking a ban on Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

A three-member bench of the election commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza heard the petition.

In 2012, MQM-Pakistan sent UK0.180 Million London to party founder Altaf Hussain. MQM has not displayed the sent amount of cash in their records. Therefore, for attempting to conceal the truth, it must be banned for , the petition stated.

Upon petitioners plea, ECP sent notices to Khalid Maqbool, Wasim Akhter, Farooq Sattar, Kanwar Naved Jameel, Arshad Vohra and Khalid Maqbool, summoning them for next hearing on May 02.
