Karachi: The accused teacher Amir Khattak in ‘Farzana Jamali Harassment Scandal’ and Vice ChancellorShaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU) Arshad Saleem Arain was appeared before the provincial ombudsman for the second time on Thursday.

In the previous hearing provincial ombudsman asked both parties to submit their answers regarding the matter.

The student Farzana Jamali also appeared before the provincial ombudsman.

Earlier, after recent pressure by civil society and other political parties yesterday, a meeting was held under the presidency of Faryal Talpur in which they discussed Farzana Jamali harassment case, after a long discussions by senior party members Faryal Talpur approves one month suspension of the accused teacher and sent Vice Chancellor SBBU on a month long leave.

The Case

A female student of SBBU Nawabshah, in a press conference, accused her teacher and HOD of the English department Amir Khattak of sexually harassing her after the video went viral on social media from Sindh Post’s plate-form the notices were taken by the superior authorities and a probe is underway.

It was the major demand of the victim’s family to suspend the VC and the teacher which was resisted by the authorities but after the continuous protests authorities were forced to suspend the accused teacher and the vice chancellor was sent to forceful leave.

Arshad Saleem the VC of SBBU is a controversial figure since his appointment as a VC, as he do not meet the criteria of HEC for VC ship, but due to political influence he is yet serving in a University as a VC.

Various alternatives were under discussions but later, the authorities decided to give an additional charge to Saleem Raza Samo who is currently appointed as Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Awam University Nawabshah.
