ISLAMABAD: Indian government on Monday released water into the River Sutlej and Indus River which is likely to enter the country during next 24 hours.
Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert after Indias move to open release water in Pakistani rivers.
Spokesman of NDMA Brig. Mukhtar Ahmad has informed that India has released more than 150,000 cusecs of water in River Sutlej while it has also opened three out of five spillways of Ladakh Dam, which may lead to flooding in the nearby settlements.
He said that the authorities feared that at least 200,000 cusecs of water might enter in the country and preparations are underway to deal with any emergency situation.
