KABUL: At least 16 people were killed while 100 others injured in a suicide blast in the Afghan capital late on Monday night.

According to Afghan media, the countrys interior ministry officials have informed that a suicide bomber mounted in a car blew himself up near filling station in Green Village area of Kabul. As a result, a fire was provoked at the petrol pump.

Another blast was heard following a blast outside the fuel pump which took place after a firing incident of the armed assailants.

Nusrat Rahimi, spokesperson of the Afghan interior ministry there were five armed assailants that took part in the attack and all were killed.

However, the incident took place when Tolo news was airing an interview of the United States of America (USA) Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad in which he was announcing that a peace agreement has been signed with the Taliban.

On the other hand, the Taliban have claimed the responsibility of the attack.
