ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court on Thursday extended the judicial remand of former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail in an ongoing probe pertaining to the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case till October 28.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced both Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) before the court and pleaded for an extension in the physical remand of the accused.
The court by hearing the arguments of all the parties extended the judicial remand of the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Imran-ul-Haq till October 28.
It is pertinent to mention here that the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was arrested by the anti-graft watchdog on 18th July near Thokar Niaz Baig Toll Plaza in connection to an ongoing probe in LNG contract scam.
On the other hand, Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected interim bail extension plea of the former Finance Minister and PML-N leader Miftah Ismail in a case pertaining to the LNG corruption case on August 7.
After the rejection of interim bail plea, a team of NAB arrested Miftah Ismail and Imran-ul-Haq from the courts premises.
