ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday approved to increase the prices of electricity of Rs1.16 per unit.
The increase was approved on an application filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) for adjustment under fuel prices for August.
Earlier, the CPPA had requested to increase prices by Rs1.50 per unit.
The price increase will be applicable on all consumers of electricity except for K-Electric users.
On Tuesday, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) postponed the decision to increase electricity prices till next meeting.
According to sources, the ECC asked PM Khan to approve the change in prices of electricity.
However, the ECC had directed NEPRA and the Power Division to present their policy for for next 3-5 years in the next meeting.
