LAHORE: An initial investigation of Tezgam Express tragedy was presented to the Chairman Pakistan Railway on Tuesday.

According to spokesman PR, The chairman has taken a swift action and suspended six officials of Karachi, Sukkur and Multan divisions including Divisional Superintendent (DS) Multan Amir Mehmood Daudpota in the light of initial investigation report of Tezgam Express on October 31.

He said that the suspended officers of Karachi and Sukkur include Divisional Commercial Officer Junaid Aslam, Assistant Divisional Commercial Officer Sukkur Abid Qamar Sheikh, and Assistant Divisional Commercial Officer-II Sukkur Rashid Ali.

The spokesman has also informed that the Assistant Divisional Commercial Officer-III Karachi Ihsan-ul-Haq and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Karachi Railway Habib Ullah Khattak are also among the suspended officers.

It is pertinent to mention here that an alleged gas canister explosion claimed at least 74 lives while several others sustained burn injuries in the process in Tezgam Express on October 31.
