ISLAMABAD: The Senate will hold its session today (Thursday) on a no-confidence motion tabled against the Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani and Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwala.

A no-confidence motion was tabled by the opposition parties against the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani. At which, ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) also tabled a counter no-confidence motion against the Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwala.

The session to take up the no-confidence motions tabled by the opposition and the government will take place at 2 pm, while both sides are claiming that they have the clear majority in the upper house and will succeed in retaining their seats.

It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition alliance has nominated Mir Hasil Bizenjo for the Senate Chairman.

A day earlier, Oppositions candidate for Chairman Senate Mir Hasil Bizenjo said that Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani should tender his resignation.

Talking to media in Islamabad he said, I was victorious on the very first day when opposition trusted in me and nominated my name for Senate Chairman.

I have the support of 65 Senators for the upcoming Senate Chairman elections, he added.

Chaudhry Tanvir is currently out of the country and that is why he is absent while Kamran Michael will cast his vote on production orders, he further added.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani should tender resignation that will be better for him and for us as well, he concluded.
