KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday barred provincial government to take any further against Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Fateh Muhammad Burfat.

As per details, SHC heard a case pertaining to a plea filed by VC Sindh University Fateh Muhammad Burfat seeking to declare his dismissal null and void.

As the hearing went under way, lawyers of Dr Burfat told the court that the provincial government issued two notices for the dismissal of their client and later retracted those notices.

The lawyers told the court that the inquiry committee formed to probe corruption allegations of their client was illegal as the committee constituted to probe the matter was comprised on junior officers and their client is Grade 22 government officer. They also pleaded the court to declare the notice null and void.

The court after hearing the argument ordered to dissolve the inquiry committee and barred Sindh government from taking any further action against VC Fateh Muhammad Burfat and issued notices to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, chief secretary and universities and boards department in this regard.

It is pertinent to mention here that VC Sindh University challenged his dismissal in Sindh High Court with the help of his lawyers Ghulam Dars and Rafique Kalwar.
