KARACHI: The staged sit-in of the Sindhs nursing staff outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Monday entered the eighth day as patients continue to suffer.

Earlier on May 2, police on baton charged protesting nurses for higher salaries and perks outside the KPC.

The nurses, most of whom were females, were trying to reach to CM House and speak to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. They were baton charged by the police in an attempt to remove the polices barricades outside the CM house.

The police arrested a dozen of protesting nurses during their bid to cross the barricades.

The nurses are protesting because they want higher salaries and better allowances. They say they have been protesting for four days but no government official has approached them.

The arrested nurses were however released later on after the successful negotiations between the police and the protesters.

On the other hand, the nurses have threatened to continue their sit-in until any further development.
