Karachi: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) on Saturday denied the social media reports pertaining to the death of well-known philanthropist and founder of SIUT, Dr Adib Rizvi.
The SIUT administration denied the report by in an official notification by stating that, “This is to inform that a totally False and Fabricated news is being circulated on social media and text messages about the demise of Professor Adib Rizvi.”
“SIUT denies this baseless news,” the notification read.
“There is no iota of truth in the messages that are being circulated. It is requested that such news should not be forwarded without authentication from SIUT,” the notification added.
“SIUT is contemplating legal action under the Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, Section 18 for spreading false news against a person. Law enforcing agencies are to take punitive steps against such people that damage the iconic and respected personality of Pakistan,” it added further.
“An Appeal has been made to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo-moto Action regarding such heinous cyber defamation & punishment to be granted to the perpetrators,” the notification concluded.
Further the SIUT administration requested people to avoid spreading such fake news prior to the confirmation of SIUT administration.
