Jamshoro: The Sindh University Teachers Association (SUTA) on Monday held a protest at all campuses of varsity against Vice Chancellor Sindh University Fateh Burfat.

According to sources, the protest was held under the leadership of SUTA secretary Dr Arfana Mallah against Fateh Burfat for disobeying the Charter of Demand.

Two years were enough for an inexperienced person to understand the administrative affairs, but the VC was still unable to address them, said Mallah while addressing the demonstration.

It must be noted that the VC did not hold a single meeting with the faculty of distant campuses since he took over the charge.

Earlier, the Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) indicted VC Sindh University Fateh Burfat, 25 others over massive fraud and embezzlement of funds from the university’s budget.

Anti-corruption department highlighted the corruption of more than 738 million rupees in the varsity.

As per the report, the varsity misused 450 million rupees by giving a contract to the private firm for Bus service. A vice-chancellor is allowed to buy a 1300cc car but it is alleged that Burfat bought a vehicle worth Rs6.4 million.

However, Sindh High Court (SHC) Hyderabad in November 2018 restrained the special provincial anti-corruption unit from taking any coercive action against the Vice-chancellor of Sindh University, Dr Fateh Burfat, till further orders.
