It is surprising that the British Library London has so much detailed content over the division of Sub-Continent that it can’t be found in Indo-Pak, Bangladeshi books syllabus. I myself is the member of British Library and whenever I get ample time, I make my way through the British Library in Indian Section Department. Over my last visit to the British Library I came to notice over the compilation with the name of “Transfer of Powerwhich contains secretive letters by the last Viceroy of United India, lord Mountbetten.
In that secretive letters, one letter was not. That letter was written on July 12th to Mahatma Gandhi in which Mountabatten informed the latter not to travel to Jammu Kashmir as the MahaRaja of Kashmir had refused to meet the Muslim League Leadership. Hoover, on 28 July 1947, Mountbatten sent a Telegram to prime minister Ram Chandra Kak in which he directed the latter to inform Maharaja that the former is sending Nehru or Gandhi to Kashmir and the premier of Kashmir must arrange the meeting between Maharaja and the duo. By reading this Telegram, I wondered why Mountbatten stopped Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to travel Sri Nagar but enabled Congress leadership to trip Kashmir? On August 1st, 1947, Gandhi reached Sri Nagar and forced Maha Raja to announce the joining of Jammu Kashmir with India instead of Pakistan.
Prime Minister Ram Chandra Kak was adamant to maintain the independent state of Jammu Kashmir, as he viewed the Jammu Kashmir joining India could cause tension, bloodshed owing to the majority of Muslims living in the valley. After few day, Maha Raja ousted the prime minister and he was replaced by Meher Chand Mahajan. Meher Chand Mahajan after assuming office transferred all the key positions and started spearheading RSS. What next transpired was a known reality and which was expressed by Ram Chandra Kak. Mountbatten, Maharaha and Gandhi colluded and conspired against Muslims of Kashmir which by itself is unprecedented.
The historical documents available in British Library further transpires that there were three key reasons of the attack by PakhtunKhuwah tribal leaders. The first was the disrespect of Hazrat Mujaddid Alif Sani’s shrine in Sarhand Sharif. On 11th October, 1947 the British envoy in Kabul informed London that the son of Hazrat Sahab Shoor Bazaar had visited Ghaznia and Loogar and announced Jihad against Sikh and Hindus. The second reason was the rebellion of retired Army officers of Sidhan Qabeela against Dogra Government In Poonch area. These Sidhan had terms with Sidwesnsay, as both of the tribes were Pathaan. The new prime minister of Jannu kashmir, Meher Chand Mahajan planned to execute Muslims and tasked the RSS warriors garbed in Army’s uniform to kill Muslims which triggered clashes and mutiny in the valley. This caused the tribesmen to attack Kashmir in retaliation.
Former president of AJK Muhammad Ibrahim Khan has written in his book “The Kashmir Saga” that plan to slaughter Muslims was made in July 1947. RSS was given the responsibly to target Muslims after making revolt in Gilgit and Punch. RSS with the help of Dogra regiment killed more than 0.25 million Muslims and in the memory of Muslims, Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC observes every year Jammu Martyrs day on November 06.
It was an era when people of East Punjab was also targeted when they migrated, but the cruelty made with Muslims and females of Jammu is unacceptable and one human nature cannot believe it. I don’t want to go in past but yes i want to tell my Nation that Pakistan is the blessing of Allah and our elders have sacrificed their lives in the making of Pakistan.
As in today’s Pakistan when we are killing each other and accusing one of impiety so we should not forget the martyrs which sacrificed their lives for the betterment of next generation. Muhammad Yousuf a retired judge of Azad Kashmir has written the tale of Kashmir in his book “Kashmiris fight for freedom”. In the second volume of the book the writer has mentioned the statements of eye witnesses of Kashmir brutality. He has mentioned the story of Atta who used to live in the area of Mastgarh.
On a Eid day, Atta killed her three daughters as he came to knew that Hindus will rape her daughters. The younger brother of three sisters wrote ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ with the blood of sisters on home wall. Yousuf Saraf has written that around 0.25 million Muslims were killed and around 25 thousand Muslim females were kidnapped in Jammu, Kathua and Udhampur.
Abducted women are forced to convert into Hinduism and only that woman is left to live who concedes with this compulsion and vice versa. Muslim women are kept at various prison cells and are forced to eat the flesh of their loved ones. A witness, Shahid Amanullah Khan who has himself seen the ‘Jammu Holocaust’ has worked for 3 decades in US embassy located in Islamabad. He mentions in his ‘Tight Roop walk’ that how Muslims on November 1947 were gathered in a police station and were dispatched to Sialkot followed by brutal attack by swords hanging Hindus. When one Hindu approached near , Aman’s mother instructed the former to escape , but Aman was reluctant to leave his mother deserted. Without any choice the mother pushed Aman to the near river.
A woman passing by the river took Aman to other extreme , where he saw her mother’s corpse blooded. This was the last time Amam saw his mother, sisters and had to escape with no other option. Editor of ‘Kashmir Times Srinagar’, Ved Bhaseen was an eye witness of horrendous incidents that occurred in Jammu Kashmir. He was adamant and said it with full conviction that the massacre in Kashmir was spearheaded by Maha Raja Hari Singh which was later avenged by Muslims killing Hindus in Mirpur and Rajordi district. Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir are giving sacrifices then and now.
Then the uniformed RSS officials were killing innocents Kashmiris; now the ideology driven actors taking inspiration from RSS have their hand dipped in Kashmiri blood. But why we Pakistani are involved in hate mongering? On 6th November, instead of denouncing Indian atrocities in Kashmir, big politicians were found fighting within. No member of the National Assembly remembered Ataa Muhamamd, on November 6th, who wrote ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ with the blood of his sisters on his home wall.
