NEW YORK: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold a session today (Friday) to discuss India’s move of revoking special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir.

According to diplomatic sources, the UNSC will discuss on the Kashmir dispute under the agenda item Pakistan-India question. This is being termed as a huge success of Pakistan on diplomatic fronts as the debate is scheduled on UNSC agenda after many decades.

It is pertinent to mention here that the session of the UNSC was convened on the request of Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The previous session on the agenda was held in 1998 after Pakistan and India conducted nuclear tests.
