WEB DESK: Labour Day will be observed tomorrow (Tuesday) in Pakistan and across the world to highlight the sacrifices and rights of labourers.

This year the Labour Day has been themed as “Uniting Workers for Social and Economic Advancement”.

Trade unions will organize seminars and rallies where labour leaders will shed light on the importance of Labour Day.

Pakistans first labor policy was devised in 1972, in which May 1 was declared an official holiday.

This policy also formulated the creation of the Social Security Network, Old Age Benefit Schemes and Workers Welfare Fund.

It is pertinent to mention here that in 1989 Raymond Lewin proposed an idea to observe this day on May 1, 1990.
